"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts."

Life can get confusing, and sometimes we can’t see the wood for the trees. The future may feel daunting, and you face a steep climb ahead. Perhaps issues from the past make you feel stuck, or daily life feels too arduous. Whether you are processing the loss of a significant person, dealing with a big change or coping with relationship struggles, experiencing low mood, anxiety and stress, therapy offers a space for you to be truly heard, supported and empowered to grow.
Natalie Parker Therapy provides a safe environment for you to talk, think, and feel, allowing you to find clarity and navigate life’s challenges.

How to get started with counselling
Getting started is simple. Just reach out, and I’ll guide you through the next steps with an initial FREE informal consultation of up to 30 minutes. I’ll ask a few questions to understand what support you’re looking for, and you can choose between seeing me in person at my Bromley-based practice room in Kent or online sessions via Zoom, so no matter where you live, you can undergo therapy from the comfort of your own home.
What to expect in your first session:
I understand that you may feel nervous when you first attend counselling - don’t worry, it’s normal. I will do everything I can to help you feel at ease. During the first session, I will warmly welcome you and introduce the counselling contract. This is an agreement of how we plan to work together, which is key to ensuring you are informed and know what to expect. Counselling contracts cover several things, including confidentiality, ethics, supervision of the counsellor, cancellations, data protection and much more. This will all be covered with you in the session, so you can ask any questions you may have. Session can take up to 75 mins (standard sessions are 50 minutes).
Counselling is a talking therapy. A counselling session offers an opportunity to stop and think without distraction. A counsellor listens to you, without judgement, without offering advice, and together you try to find a way of working through your struggles. It is something people usually seek out when they are grappling with emotional difficulties that are affecting their general well-being.
I offer both short and long-term counselling as well as open-ended counselling. The number of sessions required is dependent on individual circumstances, and everyone is unique. After six sessions, I will review how you are finding the sessions. We can mutually agree on what would benefit you the most.
Each counselling session lasts 50 minutes; however, the first session is a longer assessment session which takes up to 75-minutes. This is where we will complete the counselling contract, and I will discuss any other relevant information, such as confidentiality, medical and family history. Session fees are £65.00.
Most sessions are weekly; however, fortnightly sessions may also be available, as some people are unable to make a weekly commitment, or you may not need therapy every week. We can decide on the appropriate level of frequency when we do our first assessment session together.
We review your progress every six weeks, and you can stop your sessions at any time. If you no longer wish to attend, we can discuss what your reasons are - you are free to leave; it’s your choice.

The concept of needing to go to therapy can be scary for some. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with recognising you need additional support that others in your life cannot provide you. Counselling can be incredibly beneficial for anyone who wants to work their way to living their best life. A trained counsellor or therapist can help identify your issues as well as teach you ways to cope and give you tools to help you manage outside of your sessions.
It's so important that you feel comfortable with the counsellor you choose. Evidence shows that building a therapeutic relationship is fundamental to making a lasting change. That’s why I offer a FREE online consultation of up to 30 minutes for us to meet each other prior to the work starting to see whether we are a ‘good fit’ for each other.
Therapy can be life-changing for many people. There is extensive evidence for the use of counselling to overcome emotional distress and improve well-being. A private, respectful and honest exploration of your experiences, worries, relationships, patterns and hopes can deepen self-awareness and provide perspective. Therapy gives a moment to pause, reflect, express and examine what may be holding us back from being how we wish to be in the world.I feel truly passionate about counselling and feel it can help with many of life's challenges. The more a client can be open, honest and reflect, the more they'll reap the benefits and make lasting change.
Yes. The contract agreed upon at the beginning of therapy lays out the rare circumstances in which confidentiality would be suspended, namely, where there is risk of harm to you or someone else. I will always discuss this with a client beforehand. As an integral part of being a responsible and reflective therapist, I discuss aspects of my practice with my supervisor. However, I do not provide identifiable details when discussing my work.
